Hello, parent and tutor helping your child prepare for the life-changing opportunity of 11+ creative writing exams. You are going to notice the website is undergoing a transformation over the next few weeks, as I transition to two new exciting ways to help:
- I’m going back in the classroom, offering a very small number of tiny classes with a big impact – just 3 young writers per class. These will all be delivered online by me. There will be 2 classes:
- Y4 class – 1 Year programme to get ahead and learn all the vital techniques needed for outstanding creative writing in fiction and nonfiction.
- Y5 class – Exam Ready! A year of support which will see your child write weekly fiction and nonfiction, learn time management techniques and dazzle-write tips to stand out, along with mastering all the vital creative writing techniques and knowledge required to go beyond excellent and hit the highest mark. I treat your child like I did my own: high expectations, oceans of encouragement, deliberate and individual feedback to make progress every week, and an absolute commitment.

2. I have worked tremendously hard on developing an 11+ Creative Writing System designed specifically for 11+ entrance exams. To date, this has included 3 separate books – a comprehensive guide, a FICTION models book and a NON-Fiction models book. These guides are much more than models – each model comes with a masterclass of techniques and features included, to show your child – and help you guide them – through the WHAT, HOW and WHY of successful creative writing. These books are going to be put together into a single pack to offer to parents and tutors – they will make a HUGE difference to your child’s writing. They already do with the pupils I tutor. You’ll notice this changing offer on the website over the next few weeks.
I’m fiercely passionate about the opportunities these exams offer. My own children’s lives were transformed by their 11plus success: my son is now an engineer, after studying at Imperial College, while my daughter is in her 4th year of Medicine at Newcastle. Both of these successes grew from their incredible school experiences at Wilson’s Grammar and Nonsuch Grammar.
Creative writing is a part of the exam where your child can really score high, given the right skills, confidence and, crucially, the consistent and deliberate practice over time of creative writing exercises across all types of text: stories, letters, recounts, story continuation, etc.
I wanted to update you on these changes, as if you’re visiting the site, you may wonder what’s going on. I haven’t been hacked, this is still me, Lee! I took the decision to keep the site live while I’m making the changes, because it makes me feel accountable to you – I need to get it finished as quick as possible, but I’m also being human, and doing what I can each day. I love writing, I enjoy writing, and I want to keep doing so, just as I want your child to love writing and continue to do so. Therefore, pacing my own writing and developing this in front of you seems a real way to prove that.
I will still be offering a reduced number of spots for 1:1 tuition in September as well, so do get in touch if you’d like to book that. There are 5 spaces available at the time of publishing this post.
